Abdul Rahim Ahmad has been with UNITEN since its opening in 1997. He obtained his Bachelor degree in Computer Science from University of Queensland in 1984. He graduated with Masters of Science from Loughborough University, UK in 1994 and PhD from UTM and University of Nantes, France in 2008. Rahim, a trained educator, obtained his Diploma in Education from Penang Teacher Training College and spent 11 years as Technical lecturer in the Electrical Engineering Department in the Polytechnics. He left the government service to join ASTRO as Automation Engineer during the starting up of the ASTRO broadcasting centre in Bukit Jalil in 1996. He spent nearly 1.5 years there before deciding to rejoin the education line at UNITEN when UNITEN was formed. His research interests are in Machine learning and pattern recognition (in particular in handwriting recognition), semantic web, automation system and parallel & distributed computing. He is married and has 4 grown up children.

I guess he must have been a really cool dad, a great leader professional wise and family wise. I was browsing around the world wide web for his name, and I found this awesome video on youtube. Nur Shakirah Binti Md Salleh ( System and Networking ) 

The reason I chose Miss Shakirah is because I admire her, as young as 24 years old she already complete his study in Master of Information Technology at Universiti Tenaga Nasional and has been a Lecturer at UNITEN.     


She taught system administration for this semester and with young age, he has a new and exciting ideas for students with easy to understand this subjects in lecture.

She was cheerful person in the class, but dont trigger his anger, she will give a lot of work when she mad.

Food Courts, Soul Development Centre.

Food is very important for students to add energy and filling the stomach. UNITEN does provide some food courts convenient for the students. Of which is Upten Food Courts, COIT Cafe, Coe Food Courts and Admin Cafe.

At food courts we have variety type of food, for example Kelantan cuisine and Arabic food. You may have lot of variety to choose. For the pricing I think it is still reasonable because students still can afford it.

Transportation. your destination is our priority

Transportation.

The transportation provided is the shuttle bus for the students. The number of bus provided fullfill the student capacity. The bus will arrive every 15 minutes at the bus stop. There is two route provided. Route A and B. There is two types of buses the small size can take around 20 students while the bigger size approximately 40 students.

Students have to pay for the transportation in their fees. So it is not free transportation. However most of the passengers said that they are very pleased by the services. 

Uniten Library - The Knowledge Center

Library is where students or just people want to gain a knowledge to make their reference or to gain more knowledge in their head. Library also becomes the most important place that needed in any educational institute. Library in Universiti Tenaga Nasional is one of the leading Private Universities in Malaysia. This library provided many resources and services for supporting the high standard of learning, teaching, education and research at Universiti Tenaga Nasional.

This library aim is to support students and staff of Universiti Tenaga Nasional in all areas of their study fields. But the library also fully committed ti widening participation, and access to many of our services is provided for individual researchers, schools, corporate organizations and the Malaysian community.
The library develops and maintains extensive print and e-resources to support the research, teaching and learning activities of the University. The core collections encompass subjects in engineering, information technology, business management and accounting.

The library has one main library in Putrajaya campus and one branch library in Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah campus (KSHAS). The main library in Putrajaya campus is located on the front portion of the campus. The library began it's operation in 1997. The Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah campus library was officially launched by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed on 4th May 2001. It is located at the South-Eastern part of the State of Pahang.

What i like about library in Putrajaya campus is that this library provide many kind of services. The best services i think is the reference desk, the reference staff there can help you master the complexities of the electronic and print resources which serve as guides to the library's collections. The some services there are literature search services, instruction on the use of indexes, abstracts and reference works, instruction on searching CD-ROMs and computerized databases and compilation of reading lists and bibliographies.

This library also provided facilities in the surrounding area or in the building itself. The example of facilities there are library material loan services, online public access catalogue, reference and information services, electronic and multimedia reference services, 24-hour book drop, 24-hour reading area, muslim prayer rooms, internet station, library auditorium, library public lockers and photocopying service. Lastly i want to say about the library is that this place is important and playing a role in giving the student knowledge and reference for their study and research paper and on top of that this library provided many kind of facilities also.

The Bridge to Success, Sports and Recreational facilities.

A healthy body is key factor to a great mind and peace soul. Uniten offers a world class athlete gym for the students. I, myself am a rower for the Uniten rowing Team. I spent hours in the gym, swimming in the pool and rowing on the ergometer perfecting my techniques. Getting prepared is one thing, without all the facilities given, all of my eager would not mean anything if I don’t a platform to express them. I compete at an international level, having all the equipment needed are the most vital key in training. How can you train to row without an ergometer, it would be impossible for me run outside when it’s raining. Hence, the running machine in the gym. 

As a rower, I am obligated to certain trainings. Swimming is one of them. Luckily for me, Uniten has an Olympic size swimming pool beside the gym. Everything that I need as a student-athlete are provided, in-campus. So, I don’t have to spend my time and money to train outside of the campus.  Our student-athletes compete in all of the majority sports, you name it, we got it. Football, field hockey, marathon, badminton, swimming, ping pong, golf, and of course rowing. We also have three football fields and a 300-metres driving range for our semi-professional golfers. Two hockey turf, half a dozen of badminton courts, ping pong tables, basketball court, futsal courts. Like I said, we have almost everything under one roof. For the fast runner, we accommodate trek and field facilities for athletics competition. We are proud of our student-athletes and their achievements are our top priority. Success comes with a huge responsibility. We are doing our best in our part of supplying our student- athletes and students for training and recreational purposes. Our purpose is to produce all-rounded students both on and off the field.

We are young, wild and energetic, we need a way to channel that energy towards something positive. So, our Students' Representative Council provided us with a cool spot called 'The Loop'. Sounds cool right? It's equipped with pool tables, fussball, and air hockey. Students can hang out between classes and express what ever inside them by shooting some pool or sweep some air hockey.

Accommodation: Where The Energy Regain

Introduction On-campus student apartments are available for over 3,800 students, including a small number of units for married students. The apartments provided are comfortable with well-equipped facilities such as lounges and kitchenettes for each apartment. Bedrooms are either single or double and each apartment can accommodate four(4) students. The ambience in the student apartment helps build camaraderie and encourage friendship among students of diverse racial and religious backgrounds. Good quality off-campus accommodation at reasonable rates are also available. Universiti Tenaga Nasional makes an effort to accommodate all students on campus for at least one year. The campus has an ExecutiveEducation Centre which provides hotel-standard accommodation, equipped with up-to-date facilities for graduate students, conferenceand seminar participants, visiting academicians and visitors, as well as their accompanying family members. Types of Apartment Single Bedroom - Four single bedrooms in one unit Twin sharing - Two twin sharing rooms in one unit Apartment for married students - Two-bedroom apartment with living and dining area, kitchenette, bathroom, laundry area. Additional Furniture & Fittings In general, all the apartment units include the following facilities: room inventory: single bed, mattress, side table, wardrobe, noticeboard, a ceiling fan and lamp; kitchen inventory: kitchen cabinet, dining table & chairs, and a rubbish bin; all rooms and hall are furnished with curtains; the warden of the student units makes sure that, amongst other things, any damages will be repaired immediately; hall area : study table & chairs, study lamp and Internet/computer port. Facilities Residents have access to a range of recreational and academic facilities. The Resident Counsellors, Senior Residents and residential staff are availableto assist and advise students during semester periods and each college conducts its own social and cultural programme.

Amanah apartment is the apartment that is provided by UNITEN for the male students only.  This apartment is in a lower rate than the Cendikiawan apartment.  It is fully furnished apartment with bed kitchen and build in cabinet. There is internet cable port installed for every students in their room. The elictricity! of course you have to pay. It may sound funny because UNITEN is a unversity under the TNB. There is two bedrooms,one toilet and one bathroom. Exactly 4 students can be fit in this house. The rent is RM200 per month thats mean total of RM800 per semester. For me it is reasonable because the apartment is very comfortable with a hall and balcony. There is a badminton court in between every two blocks. Parking lot is enough for every student.

ILMU Apartment

UNITEN has provided 4 main apartment for student to rent,  Kelompk ILMU, Kelompok AMANAH, Kelompok Cendikiawan and Kelompok MURNI. For my post today, I would like to talk about Kelompok ILMU. Kelompok ILMU is the oldest building among that 4 kelompok. It was build at 1994 and now the building still looking great.

Kelompok Ilmu consists of 6 blocks. Before this, Kelompok ILMU is only for girl student, but then, the boy students it overflow, than have to take two blocks from this Kelompok ILMU to put the overflow boy students.

Kelompok ILMU is sharing type apartment where one house have two bedrooms, one bathroom, one kitchen, and one livingroom. One bedroom will be shared by two students. Kelompok ILMU is very near to food court and the guard will patrol every hour to check for surrounding and safety of student.

Kelompok ILMU is the cheapest apartment to compare between those 4 main apartment. Student have to pay RM200 per month and for the whole semester it will only cost RM800.

Murni, a pure and harmony place to stay

Murni means ‘pure’ in the English dictionary. Maybe I can state that our Murni Apartment is the purest among other apartment in uniten. Hahaha, just kidding. We have all together four apartments in Uniten. Amanah, Cendikiawan, Ilmu, and of course Murni. Murni Apartment is reserved for female and married students. It has 4 blocks, 10 floors, and each floors consist of 8 individual apartment. It also a groceries shop at the ground floor. The details of Kelompok Murni are as below:

Cendiakawan Apartment

Today post entry is about accommodation that being provided by UNITEN. My choice is Cendiakawan apartment. This apartment is only for male students and i thinks this appartment has 11 floors including ground floor and also have a lift of course because this building is higher than the other apartment in UNITEN and i think no students want to take a stair everybody to go to their room at eleventh floor or tenth floor or ninth floor. Cendiakawan apartment has three blocks called C1, C2 and C3. This apartment has 4 single bedrooms in each rooms in the building. The rental price per month for staying at this apartment is a little to high for a student, the rental per month is RM280 and for whole one semester is about RM1120. This apartment also provides some facilities near the building such as parking area, grocery store, prayer room, public toilet and also a food stall.

This apartment is really great place to stay but it's always have the same problem, that's problem is related to the lift because it's been broken and can not use by student although this building have two lift and only one is broken but when it come to the time when many student want to use the lift it will have a problem there where the lift will be crowded by the student. Other then lift, the apartment is good place for student to staying in. This apartment is located at Persiaran Cendiakawan, Universiti Tenaga Nasional, 43009 Putrajaya, Selangor, Malaysia.
